Mornings at Grandma Donna's house are the best! Since I sleep in the hallway (yup, nobody wants to share a room with me cause I snore), I always see when Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill get up. I stand up in my crib and give Grandma a sweet smile and she can't resist picking me up, even though it is way too early! She takes me downstairs and gives me a snack (first breakfast) and I watch her get ready for work. I love that special time that I get to spend with her! Then she puts me back in my crib with a bunch of toys and cause I am such a good boy I play quietly until Mommy gets up. Oh, did I forget to mention she changes my diaper too??? You rock Grandma!!!

Today we just hung out and played. I watched the Wiggles and read my books. Mommy finally figured out how to block me into the living room and boy did that make me mad! Oh well. Mommy made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight and it was really yummy. I love playing with spaghetti and I also like to eat it. I also ate some meatballs! Grandma would put some on a fork and hand it to me, then I put the fork in my mouth all by myself! The only problem is that once I get the food off the fork I instantly throw the fork on the floor...that makes Grandma kinda mad. After dinner we went into Cooper's room and played the piano (keyboard). It was really fun, I love to hit the keys and then dance to the music I am making!

I had the best time at speech today! I was in a really good mood and did a really good job. We looked at pictures of Mommy and Daddy and when Miss Jennifer asked I pointed to the right one. Of course I know who Mommy and Daddy are!!! Duh! Mary wasn't there today so we had the motor room all to ourselves. I had a ball, climbing on everything and exploring...I even found the secret sand container!

I fell asleep on the ride home, so I missed seeing Grandpop Bill when we got back. Thanks for carrying me upstairs though Grandpop! Tonight I got to watch Mommy make dinner and hang out with Grandma Donna, it was great!

Today was interesting...

I was supposed to go play with Grandpa Don while Mommy went to my IEP meeting, but that didn't happen. Because of the snow everything got delayed and confused and Mommy ended up just having my meeting over the phone. The good news is that Grandpop Bill came home and played with me and Cooper during Mommy's phone call. That was pretty fun!

The IEP meeting was to figure out what to do with me when I turn three. So far it all sounds pretty good. Every morning a school bus will come pick me up at home (wherever that is), I will get in my stroller and go for a ride on the wheelchair lift! Fun! Then they will take me out of my stroller and put me in a carseat. I will ride the bus to school and then a teacher or aide will come out and get me off the bus and take me to my classroom.

I will be going to a special education 3 year old program at one of the neighborhood schools. There won't be any typical kids in my class, but they told Mommy that they will try and include me with the typical pre-k and Kindergarten kids for the extra stuff, like assemblys, picnics, and field trips. That sounds like a lot of fun!

Until I walk on my own I will have an aide just for me. They will help me move around the classroom and school, etc. Once I start walking that will probably stop though. I will go to school everyday for half days. There will be a communication book so Mommy and my teacher can send notes back and forth to each other. They are going to teach me how to feed myself and use a toilet! I am also supposed to learn 20 words. Mommy told them they need to put up some gates cause I really like to escape. I will probably go to summer school this year too, since I am starting so late in the year. I start school the Monday after I turn three! That is April 23rd! I am so excited, I can't wait to go to school!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!! I can't believe you are 32, man that is old!!! :)

It snowed all day today! Mommy is hoping for a snow day tommorow so she doesn't have to go to my IEP meeting. I hope that the meeting is on cause it means I get to go hang out with Grandpa Don! And unless it gets cancelled I also have an appointment with Pat Winders tommorow afternoon. Busy, busy!

Today was pretty fun. I got to play with Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill a bunch. I signed "banana" and got exactly what I wanted for breakfast. Then I was reading my book and there was a picture of a banana in it and I signed it then too! Grandpop kept making me try to walk to Mommy, but I didn't mind too much. I like walking to Mommy cause she always gives me big kisses, even though I don't exactly walk...more like lunge. Mommy says if anyone can get me to walk, it is Grandpop Bill. He is really good at making people do stuff they don't wanna...and I don't wanna walk!

Gosh, will someone please just buy our house already!!!!

Sorry, that was Mommy speaking, me I could stay here at Grandma Donna's forever! Apparently it is stressful for Mommy and Daddy though. I do have to admit that I haven't been helping, I am constantly looking for new ways to get into trouble. Today I fell off one of the rolling chairs when I was climbing on it to reach something. I also attempted to shake the other lamp that isn't broken yet...Mommy stopped me this time though. I figured out how to open the dishwasher and the trash can. Mommy tried to block me in the living room best she could...but it totally didn't work. I love staying here and getting into trouble! Oh, I forgot to mention that I also knocked over Mommy's full can of Diet Coke while she was trying to make dinner. There are a lot of people coming to look at our house tommorow so keep your fingers crossed that one buys it!

Tommorow we get to go see Grandma Jan and Grandpa Don! I can't wait, it has been so long since we saw them! We are gonna have a great time!

Thursday, February 22, 2007

Well, today didn't start off as good as yesterday. One of my online friends passed away this morning and me and Mommy are so sad about it. We will miss you Mikey, even though I never met you I loved you, cause you were just like me...special in every way! So this morning started off sad, and Mommy gave me lots of extra kisses, which made it a little better.

Then this afternoon we had a little accident. You all know how I love to shake lamps right? Well, apparently Grandma Donna's lamps are made out of glass and very fragile. So while Mommy was feeding Cooper I went over and shook the lamp, knocked it over, and broke it! There was a huge crash and lots of breaking glass and Mommy started yelling. I thought it was the best thing ever and even clapped my hands. Mommy disagreed, she said I was a bad boy. She is right....I am a very bad boy, good thing I am also so cute! Sorry about the lamp Grandma and Grandpop!

Today started off with a bang! Mommy asked if I wanted a banana for breakfast...then she signed the word "banana". Well, I wanted to make sure Mommy understood that I really wanted that banana so I signed it too! Mommy was really impressed cause that is kinda a hard sign and I don't usually pick up any signs on the first try. She didn't even have to do hand over hand!!! So I gobbled down the piece of banana she gave me and looked right at her and signed it again! I am such a smarty!!! I had lots of fun the rest of the day too, Mommy posted some pictures for you all to see.

Yesterday we went to speech at Loyola. It took longer to get there since we are staying in Annapolis, so I fell asleep on the way there. I was really cranky when we got there but my therapist Jennifer did a great job of distracting me and cheering me up. She took me right to the motor room and when that didn't do it she got the bubbles. I am such a sucker for bubbles!!! We ended up having a good session afterall and then we went back into the motor room to play with my friend Mary. She is so pretty that she makes me nervous! Her mom said I have to take her to the prom! Mommy said I will like the prom, there is lots of dancing!

I am also having a great time getting into everything at Grandma Donna's house. I have figured out how to roll the kitchen chairs around so I can climb up and reach anything I want. I also realized that I am tall enough to reach the stuff on the tables now. Plus I figured out that the door to the laundry room doesn't latch so I go in there when Mommy isn't looking and close the door behind me. She never would have found me today, but I think she heard me giggle!!!

Quinn has been getting into all kinds of trouble at Grandma's house. He found this ironing board and decided it made a great toy.

I don't know if I told you all this, but we moved! Not into our new house, but into Grandma Donna's house. We got tired of people always coming over to see our house so we decided to go on an extended vacation to Annapolis. Best idea ever!! Grandma Donna's house is so much fun! I am allowed in the kitchen here, which I love, and there is a really huge TV, which I really love. Plus there is constant attention from both Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill, which I really really really love!

Today Grandma Donna had the day off from work so we hung out and played all day long. Then Grandpop Bill came home for lunch and we worked on my walking a little. I took a step towards Mommy! It isn't walking, but it is a start. After work Granpop came home and we all went out to Chevy's for mexican food. It was really fun! There was a real truck up on the wall and lots of other stuff to look at. I had yummy chicken nuggets and shared my fries with Cooper. Then they brought me ice cream for dessert! Yummy!!!

Quinn and Cooper took a bath together tonight! They had a great time! Cooper says he prefers to bathe with Quinn. Quinn, on the other hand, would rather not share his bath toys!
Happy 21st Birthday Christine!!! Thanks for inviting me and my family to your party. We had a great time!!!!

Today was fun! This morning Lindalee came over for a little PT. We had to go up and play in my room cause that is where most of my toys are now. It was really fun, afterwards I showed her how good I can walk in my walker (now that we have so much room in the living room). She was impressed but she agreed with Grandma Jan that my feet turn out too much. She said I might need AFO's which are just foot braces, but I don't think I will like them!

Then Grandma Jan came over and picked us up. I was so excited cause I always go somewhere fun with Grandma Jan, but it ended up we were just taking Cooper to the doctor. Hey, better him than me! I didn't even have to get out of the stroller!

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Mommy cancelled everything for today and tommorow cause of the icky weather! I hate winter, I can't wait for it to be summer again! We just hung out and played all day. When the mail came there was a super cool Valentines Day card from Grandma Jan! It even had stickers in it but we decided to keep those for another day.

I took an extra long nap today so that meant I got to stay up later! I watched "Heroes" with Mommy and Daddy. That show is awesome, I really like it! Usually our family doesn't agree on TV. Daddy likes PBS, Mommy likes MTV, and I love the Wiggles....it is really nice to have a show we can all agree on.

Monday, February 12, 2007

My teacher came over this morning! She brought a Valentines Day book for us to read. After we finished that one I showed her the ones Grandma Jan gave me this weekend. She was really impressed. She also brought some conversation hearts. They were all kinds of colors and had words written on them. I put them on the pages of the book where there were other hearts. Then I licked one, yuck! I tried a different color and that was yucky too! I can't believe Mommy likes to eat those things. What would I do without Mommy to eat all that yucky candy people always give me?

Tonight me and Cooper played together for a while. He is getting pretty good at sitting up and he holds onto his toys a lot better than he used to. Mommy is always telling me to share. I shared a little tonight, but I didn't like it!

Saturday, February 10, 2007

Today was nuts! We went to Grandma Jan's house not once, but twice!! The second time was right in the middle of my nap. It was cause everyone kept calling and saying they wanted to see our house. Gosh people, can't you wait until the open house tommorow???

So of course I was really cranky when we got there the second time, and Grandpa Don wasn't even there to walk me around! Grandma turned on Sesame Street and I calmed down, then she gave me some leftover pizza and I was happy again. Cold pizza is da bomb! That means really good for all you grandparents out there. I ate two whole pieces!

I only got half a nap today so I had to go to sleep early. Tommorow is probably going to be just as crazy. All I have to say is...Ms. Charlotte, Sell This House!!!

I have an ear infection and it really sucks! Today when I woke up my eyes were much better but I had a really runny nose and was real cranky. We already had that appointment at the doctors so we went. She looked in my ear and said "ear infection!" Who would have thought I would have made it to almost three years old without one and then suddenly get one?

I am already on the mend because I am feeling better and the doctor gave Mommy some antibiotics to give me. They taste like strawberry! I am still really snotty but hopefully that will go away real soon.

Gunky eyes!!! This is what Quinn woke up with today, if it isn't better tommorow I guess we will be calling the doctor :(

When we moved our sofa we found a ton of Quinn's books underneath! This used to be one of his favorites, it obviously still is. Last time we read this book Quinn couldn't really lift most of the flaps, today he had no problem!!

Today was a really fun day! This morning we went to speech at Loyola and I had a good time with Ms. Jen like always. Then we went to the motor room and there was a little girl in there with us! Her name was Mary and she has Down Syndrome just like me! Of course, she was running circles around me...both literally and figuratively. She could walk and run and climb and Mommy said she had 40 signs! On top of all that she was a real cutie, I hear plans are already in the works for us to go to prom together :) I am so happy that we have speech at the same time so we will be able to play together every week.

After speech we went to Grandma Jan's house. Our house is for sale and people want to come over to see it, sans kids. So I think we will be spending a lot of time at Grandma Jan's. I was so excited to see Grandpa Don was there, but he had to work so I just hung out with Mommy and Cooper. While we were there Mommy discovered that when she calls me "Quinn" I totally ignore her....but when she calls me "Quinn Banta" I do exactly what she says. It must be in every kids genetic makeup to know their Mom means business when she calls them by their full name!

Today was lots of fun! Me and Mommy went to a Groundhog Day party and it was great. It was a potluck lunch and they had the yummiest chicken nuggets! I ate a whole bunch and then I went and played with all my friends. There was this really cool Elmo chair that vibrates when you poke him in the eye. I really liked it! Then they brought out this cool pop up school bus that was just like my tunnel but bigger. It was a really fun party!

I was really tired afterwards but I didn't really get a nap cause the painter guy was working in my room. I was such a cranky guy that I had to go to sleep early and I totally missed seeing Grandma Donna tonight! That is okay though cause I saw her this morning when she watched us during the home inspection....she even gave me a bath, fun!!!

Thursday, February 01, 2007

I was in a really bad mood today, all day! I also had a cough and was a little warm, so maybe I am sick. I was so cranky this morning that Mommy had to give me breakfast in front of the Wiggles. Then my OT came over and I had a mini meltdown. I felt a little better after my nap, but not 100%. Grandma Donna came over and even though I was so happy to see her, I was still cranky. I was also a lot more cuddly than usual and that is a sure fire sign that I am not feeling well.

I hope I am all better tommorow cause we are supposed to go to a Groundhog Day party!
