Here is a cute picture of Portia in her new outfit, a Christmas present from Grandma Jan. She doesn't like hoods any better than Quinn does!! Posted by Picasa

What a fun day today was!!

First when I woke up Mommy gave me my usual cherrios to snack on. But she was eating a bagel with cream cheese and that looked much yummier than my cherrios! So I just stared at her till she gave me some. She gave me a big piece cause she didn't think I would really eat it. Wrong!!! I shoved that whole thing in my mouth and gummed it until I could swallow it. It was so yummy! So Mommy gave me more smaller pieces and it made a really good breakfast treat.

Then Grandma Jan came over to pick me up and I spent the rest of the day at her house. I had a great time there. I played blocks and got into their Christmas tree. I took a walk with Grandpa Don and cuddled with Grandma Jan. It was tons of fun!

Tommorow is New Years Eve! Mommy says that means we can't go anywhere cause of all the drunk crazy people. So we are just gonna hang out at home as a family, sounds great to me!

Thursday, December 29, 2005

Well, Mommy has started trying to force me to walk and it isn't all that bad. Now when I finish eating she makes me walk (while I am holding her hands) all the way from the dining room to the living room. No matter how hard I try to sit down, she won't let me. If I didn't know how much she loved me I'd say that was child abuse!! Not really:) So even though I don't want to walk, I do want to get into the living room so I can play...so I am humoring Mommy and moving my feet like she wants me to.

We had fun playing today! I built a little house out of my new Megablocks. I am getting pretty good at getting the pieces to fit together, but I still need Mommy's help. I also am really good at getting the egg into the right slot and pushing it through on my new kitchen toy. Circles are easy, even if eggs are gross! Mommy and me spent a bunch of time reading my new Elmo book, I love that thing. I even started to pull up some of the flaps and look under them. Mommy ripped one off by accident, but I forgive her!

Tommorow I am going over to Grandma Jan's house! That way I can spend New Years Eve with Mommy and Daddy. Sounds like it is gonna be a fun weekend!

Wednesday, December 28, 2005

Today was fun! I finally got to hang out and play with some of my new toys! There are a few still in the boxes or not out yet, but I know Mommy is working on it. I had a great time crawling around and exploring all the new stuff.

Lindalee came over today. It was really nice to see her, it has been over a month cause one of us kept canceling. I gave her a big smile and cuddled up to her. Of course I still didn't want to cooperate, but what did she expect?? She is gonna come over on Tuesday to start making up appointments. She is gonna bring me some super non-skid stuff, cause my butt is just too round and slippery!

In other news Mommy thinks she can force me to start walking. Boy is she wrong!!!! :)

Getting ready to unwrap a present at Great Grandma Joan's house. Posted by Picasa
Well, Christmas has officially ended. So of course now Quinn figures out how to unwrap presents!!! Posted by Picasa
" Cool! They're Little People, just like me." Posted by Picasa
Opening presents with Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill. Posted by Picasa
Quinn says, "Don't worry Uncle Adam..I don't like having my hair cut either! But it doesn't hurt, really!". Posted by Picasa
The day after Christmas was just as fun as the day before and the day of! We went all the way to Philadelphia to visit with our friends and family and it was so much fun!

First we stopped at the Rogers' house. They used to be Mommy's next door neighbors when she was little. They have the coolest house! There is a big fish tank and a really cool turtle pond, it was like going to the Aquarium! They had a little doggie that looked a lot like Portia, except this doggie seemed to mistake me for a chew toy...so we didn't get too close.

After that we went to Great Grandma Joan's house. There were lots of people there. Almost all the Shumans! It was fun, I got presents there and was the center of attention. Everyone thought I was so cute! Plus I got to try chili for the first time, it was pretty good!

Then we went to Great Grandma Berta's house and all of the Rosenbaums were there! At Grandma Berta's house we celebrate Hannuka, not Christmas. As long as I get presents it doesn't matter to me! I did get presents! I think my favorite was the Elmo phone from Uncle Saul....that thing is so cool, I didn't even know Elmo had my phone number! I had so much fun cuddling with Cousin Jane and trying to get to all of Grandma Berta's breakable stuff. It was tons of fun!

Today we just hung out, we were really worn out after our crazy weekend!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

What a great holiday! Last night we went over to Grandma Donna's house. We had dinner and opened lots of gifts. I got all kinds of great things like a big stuffed Mickey Mouse, a gymnastics set, a tamborine, maybe even more I can't remember. I had such a great time playing with Granpop Bill and Uncle Ian, I pulled some of the ornaments off the tree and even had ice cream for dessert. What a great Christmas Eve!

Today we woke up and Mommy, Daddy, Portia and I opened presents. I got a lego set and markers from Mommy and Daddy. I got a really cool Elmo book from Rona (Uncle Ian and Ben's mommy), she was the one who sent that Amazon.com gift. Portia got some toys too, she is still better at unwrapping presents than I am!

Then we went over to Grandma Jan's house. They had a big tree too and it was all lit up. Uncle Scott was there and it was great to see him. I really had a great time playing with him. I got tons of presents at Grandma Jan's! Too many to list really. I got a cool driving toy, a kitchen set, some puzzels, some books, and the coolest tractor set ever! I also got my own stocking (it had my name on it) and that had all kinds of cool little things in it. Plus I got a new outfit, Portia got one too, it is a pink sweatshirt and she looks really pretty in it!

The one thing I got for Christmas that I didn't want was a cold. I have been feeling really sick all day and Mommy says I sound "croupy". I really hope that I can still go to Philadelphia tommorow. Not only will I get more presents, but I really want to see all of my family! I am keeping my tiny little fingers crossed that I feel all better tommorow!

Daddy stayed home today and we played together all day!!! It was so great. I even let him put me in my Johnny Jump Up and we played while I was in that. I like that thing. It is fun to twirl around and I even jumped a little bit.

I got a package in the mail today! It came from Amazon.com but it didn't say who it was from. I guess I need to open the gift (it was wrapped) to see who it is from. I can't wait, but Mommy said I have to wait until Christmas morning to open it. Bummer!

The good news is that Christmas isn't too far away! Tommorow is Christmas Eve and we go to Grandma Donna's house. I bet I will get lots of presents there. Then the next day is Christmas and we go to Grandma Jan's house..there will be tons of gifts there too! Wow, am I gonna have a great weekend!!!

Tonight we went out to dinner to Red Robin. I got a ballon and had a great time playing with it. It was too interesting there so I didn't really want to eat any fries or anything. I had a great time though!!!

Wednesday, December 21, 2005

I am having a very easy week! All my therapists are cancelling! My OT was supposed to come over this morning but she called and cancelled cause her little girl is sick. It must be going around, I just hope it doesn't come back to me!

Instead of OT Mommy and me worked on sign language. We watched Signing Times together and she helped me make each sign with my hands. It went better than usual cause I didn't resist as much as I used to. I am starting to figure out that maybe these signs could get me stuff...like more cheese curls! Now that would be cool!

I am experimenting more with talking. I have my own language that I have invented, Mommy says I sound like an alien. I think I sound cool, I tried talking this morning at breakfast but Mommy said to be quiet cause I was spitting cereal all over the place. Whoops.

I love my mommy, but she just never gives up! She still wants me to drink something so she got me this yummy yogurt drink. Well she may have hit the jackpot cause I really like it and it is just the right thickness for me. I have to suck in my cheeks to get it up the straw and I don't spit it out once it is in my mouth! Plus, even though it is yogurt I haven't been spitting it up! Looks like a winner!

Tuesday, December 20, 2005

Wow! I am 20 months old today!!!

Well, we did just hang out today. It was pretty fun though. I got to watch Higglytown and Jojo's Circus. It was a good day.

Grandma Donna stopped by after work and once I woke up all the way I was really happy to see her. She had to drop something off for Mommy, but of course she cuddled me and played with me a little too. It was a nice way to wake up, seeing my Grandma's pretty face!

When Daddy got home we ordered pizza for dinner. Mommy gave me her crust and I was really enjoying it. Then I leaned my hand over the side of my highchair just a little to far and Portia grabbed it! I tried to hold on to it, but that little puppy is just too strong! Oh well, I love Portia so I guess I don't mind sharing. Mommy said that if I wasn't such a nice little boy I would have gotten really upset.

Lindalee (my PT) called tonight. She can't come see me on Thursday! Her little boy has RSV!! Mommy says that is a really bad thing to have so I better not get it too! Mommy said that Jack would be alright cause he is such a big, healthy little boy. I hope he gets better soon!!!

Monday, December 19, 2005

I had a busy day today! First this morning me and Mommy went to playgroup. It was fun, Ms. Dorothy (my teacher) wasn't there but Ms. Elizabeth (another teacher) was. So was my buddy Donny, I love watching him play. I wish I could walk and run like he does so I could play with him easier. Everytime he got close to me today I reached out and grabbed him! He didn't mind, I think he likes me too! Circle time just wasn't the same without Ms. Dorothy, but it got better when they brought out the bubbles! I really like bubbles. Then it was my favorite part, snacktime! I ate a graham cracker and a big gingerbread cookie. I made a big mess all over my face and hands, but it was really yummy!

After we came home and had a long nap my new Speech Therapist came over. She is pretty nice and I talked for her a little, but not much. She brought these things that look like lolipops but have foam on the end. They are supposed to stimulate my mouth. I really liked sucking and chewing on it, much better than the tounge depressors my last ST would bring. The ST also brought a big microphone that makes sounds louder when you talk into it. I wanted to try but I was too shy, maybe next time! Tommorow I have the day off, me and Mommy are just gonna hang out!

Sunday, December 18, 2005

Today was a good day. Me and Daddy played a bunch and we watched a little bit of football. The Ravens game isn't until tommorow night and that is past both mine and Daddy's bedtimes! Oh well, we will just have to DVR it!

Not too much else happened today. I had a good time driving Portia crazy, she really doesn't like it when I grab her. I got to play in bed with Mommy, she wanted to snuggle...but that just isn't my style. I got my hands on an empty plastic cup and had a great time playing with that! I am going to have to grab those more often!

Saturday, December 17, 2005

I had such a fun day today! I got up and played with Daddy this morning and then we went over to Grandma Jan's house. I had so much fun there! As soon as Mommy and Daddy left I started tearing the place apart! I took out all of my toys and when I was done with them I tried to get into all the cool stuff Grandma has on her coffee table. Then I tried to crawl places I wasn't allowed to go. It was so much fun! But when Mommy came to pick me up Grandma didn't make a big deal about how she would miss me and how they couldn't take her baby. Do you think maybe now that I am a troublesome toddler I am wearing Grandma out?? I hope not, cause I love it over there!

Grandma bought me this cool reindeer in a rocking chair that when you push its hand it rocks and sings "Grandma got runover by a Reindeer", I loved it! I could watch that thing for hours, even though it is Mommy's least favorite song. She said I wasn't allowed to bring it home!!!

It must be close to Christmas cause when we were getting in the car a Pickup Truck pulled over and Santa was in the back! He came over to say hi to me and Portia and gave me a candy cane. Mommy ate it cause I am not big enough for those yet...it was pretty cool though!

Friday, December 16, 2005

Good News! I am pretty much cured from my cold and Mommy is also feeling much better!

Today Mommy had to work on our Holiday cards so I got to watch lots of TV. It was great! I saw Boobah, Teletubbies, and Clifford! Everytime Mommy came to check on me or say hello I just swatted her away. I don't bug her when she is watching the O.C. now do I?

Besides that I got to play a lot. There was a JC Penney flyer that Mommy gave me that really cracked me up for some reason. We took a late nap and I got up in time to see Daddy! I haven't really got to see him much lately cause I have been sleeping when he is home most the time. Tommorow is Saturday so I get to spend all morning with him! Then I get to go to Grandma Jan's house so Mommy and Daddy can go shopping. I can't wait, it has been two whole weeks since I got to go over there!!!

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

I felt much better today! No more yucky stuff coming out of my nose and I ate everything I could get my hands on. I even played alone on the floor a little today, but still mostly wanted to be with Mommy. I took lots of naps and went to bed really early. Hopefully tommorow I will feel all better.

Poor Mommy was sicker than me today. She was coughing and sneezing and needed me to comfort her! I hope we both feel better tommorow so we can play, play, play!

Being sick really sucks. I am lucky I am such a healthy little guy so that it doesn't happen that often. I feel really bad for all my friends that are sick all winter.

Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Well, still not better today! Actually I felt even worse. I wouldn't eat practically anything, except of course for Cheese Curls...there is always room for Cheese Curls no matter how sick you are. I didn't even really feel like playing, I kept going up to Mommy and reaching out for her to hold me. We cuddled all day and I only played while I was sitting with her, and if you know me...you know that is very unusual. I am no Momma's Boy, but when I am sick I need her, you know what I mean? So there is still stuff coming out of my nose, but still no cough so that is really good.

Mommy says she thinks she is going to have to cancel my therapists tommorow. She said we will see how I act when I get up. That is too bad cause my new speech teacher was supposed to come over. Plus, if I don't get better really fast we are not going to get to see Pat Winders on Friday! I wanted to show off my new PT skills like my stair climbing and stuff like that.

Monday, December 12, 2005

Uggg....

Mommy and me are both sick! I don't like being sick one bit. All this green and yellow stuff keeps flying out of my nose and I am too cranky and tired to play! This morning my teacher came over and even though I was cranky we got some stuff done. I sat in my new improved chair (thanks Grandpop) and we worked on stacking stuff. She also brought some Christmas bells that were pretty cool.

I was so worn out today I had to take two naps! Everytime I tried to play I would slip and fall and get real cranky. I even threw a little temper tantrum cause Mommy wouldn't open the gate so I could go into the dining room. Mommy said too bad, cause temper tantrums don't work with her. She said maybe I should try it on a Grandma sometime! At least I am not croupy yet, Mommy says if that happens we have to go back to the hospital...no way! I hope I am all better tommorow so I can get some serious playing done.

Sunday, December 11, 2005

I had a really fun Saturday and Sunday!

On Saturday we went over to Grandma Donna's house to decorate their Christmas Tree. There was a really big green tree in their living room. It seemed kinda boring until they put all the lights and things on it, then it was really neat! We won't talk about how it almost fell and crushed me, but Grandpop Bill really needs to be more careful! The whole family was there, Ben and Becky, AJ and Jeffrey, Ian and Sara, and Grandma's friend Jennifer. They all thought I was the cutest and paid lots of attention to me. I especially liked watching Jeffrey and playing with him and AJ. I got my first Christmas present, it was a cool Tonka Truck! I love it! What a fun night.

Today was Sunday so Daddy fed me in front of the football game and we played and watched the game. It was once again a loss for the Ravens, oh well it was close. The bad part about today is I am sick. My nose was all stuffed up and then it started running. I also just feel kinda gross. Mommy gave me some medicine and put me to bed, hopefully I will feel all better tommorow!

Friday, December 09, 2005

It is so good to be home!!! I really, really, really, missed this place.

The trip to Ohio was good and I got to see lots of family and stuff. But it was a really long ride there and an even longer ride back! I cried almost the whole way, I just wanted to get out of my seat and play but Mommy said no. I also didn't sleep so well in my portable crib so I am really happy to be back in my room in my big comfy crib. I did discover that I can no stand up in my portable crib, I guess my arms are getting longer.

Anyway, I am really worn out so I will give you some more details later. Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know we got home okay!

Tuesday, December 06, 2005

I was a very cranky boy today! Mommy thinks I must be getting a tooth because I was also a very drooly boy. Besides that it was a fun day. Grandma Donna came over and helped us get ready for our trip tommorow. Of course she played with me and hugged me and kissed me a bunch too!

Tommorow we are driving to Ohio for Great Grandma Hattie's funeral. It is a long car ride but now that I can face forward and look out the window I am really looking forward to it. Plus we get to stay in a hotel room and those are always so much fun to explore! The other good thing is that I will get to see lots of my family that I wouldn't otherwise see. So maybe it won't be such a bad trip at all, but I do wish we were going under better circumstances.

I won't be able to update again till Friday, so I will talk to you all then!

Monday, December 05, 2005

Mommy and me went to playgroup this morning! It was tons of fun. Still not a lot of kids there, just my buddy Donny. He is the coolest though and I really like watching him. We played with toys and then during clean up time I helped too! Mommy said I did it wrong cause I wasn't supposed to take out more toys...but I think my way is more fun. Then we had circle time and learned all about winter. We sang songs and played with bubbles, that is mine and Donny's favorite part, but Donny can actually say "bubbles". How cool is that! Snack time was also good, there were gingerbread cookies and I really liked them! Yummy. I also colored in a Santa hat with a marker and kinda helped glue a cotton ball to the top. Mommy must have liked it cause she hung it on the refrigerator!

After playgroup we went to the post office and it was really busy. I did not like waiting so long but Mommy said we had to. Plus, our post office sucks cause there is no handicap entrance! Mommy had to pick up my stroller and carry it up the stairs! There should be a law! Apparently there is one...but our post office is exempt cause it is a "historical building". What a pain!

Here is Quinn during his last visit to his Great Grandma Hattie's in Ohio. She will be missed by all! Posted by Picasa
Today was really fun! Grandma Donna came over this afternoon and we all went to the Down Syndrome group Holiday Party. I had the best time there! There were lots and lots of kids and I got to see some of my friends from playgroup like Victoria and Tatum. I got to eat potato chips and crawl all around this huge room (Mommy says it is called a gymnasium). My pants got really dirty but I had a great time! I crawled around and checked out peoples shoes. Some people picked me up and played with me. Mommy said I did a great job of being social, much better than usual. That is cause I was really comfortable, after all, I was surrounded by "my people". Santa came but I wasn't really that interested, which Mommy said was good cause there is always a long line for Santa and they forgot the camera anyway. It was a really fun party and I am so glad we went.

The only bad part of my day was that something really sad happened. My Great Grandma Hattie went up to heaven today. I am really sad about that cause I really liked her. Daddy says that she is with her husband now and Mommy says that she is watching over me, so I guess it isn't that bad. She was a really great Great Grandma though and I will miss her!

Saturday, December 03, 2005

I had a big day today! We went to the mall and it was so exciting! I have never seen so many people in my life. I wanted to grab every single one of them. I also wanted to grab everything in every store we went into. When Daddy wasn't paying attention I grabbed this cool glass ornament thing, Mommy says Daddy is really lucky it didn't break! After we did a little shopping (and grabbing) we went to get my picture taken. It was okay but I didn't want to smile! I did give the lady one, but just one and they should be happy with that. The picture is for our holiday cards...but they may be a little late.....Mommy says she is sorry! Don't worry though, even if they don't come till January it will be worth the wait. There is gonna be a cute little boy on them!

After the mall we went to the Mongolian Grill. I ate cheese curls, played with chop sticks, and had a whole bowl of chocolate pudding! Boy that got me hyper but I fell asleep in the car and slept in my stroller the whole time we were in Sams Club. It was a really fun day but I was worn out!!!

Friday, December 02, 2005

I was not a happy camper today! Mommy took me to the doctors and they stole my blood!!! Mommy held me, they tied this blue strap (which looked like it could be a fun toy when used differently) around my arm, and poked me!!! I, of course screamed and struggled the whole time! But it was over pretty quick so it wasn't actually that bad. Dr. Crawford wants to check my thryroid levels so that is why they needed my blood, Darn him!

Other, more pleasent, highlights from my day.... When Mommy came in to get me this morning I wasn't wearing any pants! We both thought that was pretty funny. It took Mommy a whole half hour to get me dressed today because I was having so much fun crawling away from her. She wasn't amused but I thought it was hillarious! There was no ice cream in the house so I got to have extra cheese curls as a reward for getting my blood drawn. I shared them with Portia!

Thursday, December 01, 2005

Today was a PT day! I haven't seen Lindalee in a while cause we had a cancelation and a holiday. She hadn't even seen my new haircut yet!! Can you believe that?? She said that I looked so much older and was acting so much more mature. We read a book together and she was really impressed with how I paid attention and turned the pages. She also rigged my new chair so the seat back would be in the right position. However....she had to smush poor Mr. Penguin in there and he is one of my favorite stuffed friends! Hopefully Grandpop Bill can really fix my chair real soon, so I can play with Mr. Penguin again!!!

Today I woke up early from my nap. I didn't want to bother Mommy so I quietly removed the chew bar from my crib again. I slid it off and then took the long piece of plastic and shoved it down the opposite corner of my crib. When Mommy came in to get me I was sitting in my crib playing with the piece that was still sticking up. It made a really cool noise when it vibrated against my crib! Mommy was pretty impressed with my handywork too!

Wednesday, November 30, 2005

My OT came over today and we played with puzzles! I did a really good job and got most of the shapes in the right spaces, Mommy and the OT were both really impressed. We also crumbled tissue paper and colored with crayons. It was a fun session.

Mommy had a bunch of phone calls to make so I got to watch some TV, which I didn't mind at all. Then we played for a while and I took a nap. When Daddy got home he fed me dinner and we watched the Simpsons and played. It was a great day!

Monday, November 28, 2005

Mommy and me had such a rough week that we decided to take today off! We just relaxed and hung around the house. We slept late and played and watched TV, we haven't had a chance to do that for a while. I like excitement but sometimes it is nice to have a quiet day at home.

Grandma Donna stopped by this evening. She brought me a baby walker so that I can move around anywhere I want. I am no expert at it yet, but I am learning. I got into all kinds of stuff tonight and tommorow is a whole new day!!! Of course she stayed a while and played with me and fed me dinner. You're the best Grandma!

I was worn out from doing nothing all day so I went to bed early!

Sunday, November 27, 2005

Today we went over to Grandma Jan's house and I watched the football game with Daddy and Uncle Scott. Let's just say it wasn't pretty....

I had a good time crawling around Grandma's living room and getting into stuff, she doesn't seem very interested in childproofing so when I am fast enough I can get my hands on all kinds of stuff! I had a great time playing with the front door today. I opened it, and closed it, then opened it, then closed it. Talk about fun times!!! Cause it was a special occasion Grandma had junk food and I really liked the potato chips she put out. I got really upset when Mommy told me they were all gone, I like salty stuff.

After that we went out to dinner...Don Pablos again. I was not to happy when we got there but then I pooped and felt all better. Tortilla chips are almost as good as potato chips, I can't wait till I am old enough to dip my chips! After dinner we went to Walgreens and I rode in the cart like a big boy! It was really fun and I did a really good job of sitting in the cart, Mommy said she was really proud of me!

Saturday, November 26, 2005

Yet another fun day today! We took a really long car ride and went to visit Great Grandma Joan in Philadelphia. I loved sitting facing forward and even though I was really tired, I kept trying to stay awake so I could look out the window. We went up there to have dinner and to celebrate Thanksgiving again. It was fun! Aunt Leslie and Cousin Autumn were there, and they were both wearing cool necklaces I got to play with! Grandpop's brother Uncle Adam and his wife Ruth were there too. Uncle Adam has a whole bunch of hair on his face and I had to really control myself not to pull it! I had ice cream for dessert again, but it didn't agree with me so I spit it up right there at the table with everyone looking at me....how embarrasing! And Grandma Joan gave me the coolest little animal finger puppets and let me play with rocks! Cool!

Tommorow we are gonna go watch the football game with Uncle Scott. Go Ravens!

Friday, November 25, 2005

I had another fun day today. Great Grandma Berta came over again and we spent most of the day with her. We played together all morning and I really showed off how strong and cute I am. We also played this really fun game with a football, where she threw the football to me while I was in my excersaucer and then I knocked it onto the floor so she she would do it again and again. I really love playing with my Great Grandma!

We went out to eat twice today! We went to lunch at Bob Evans with Grandma Berta, and then we went to dinner at Steak and Ale with Grandma Jan and Uncle Scott. I never get to eat at Steak and Ale cause it is a really quiet restraunt and Mommy doesn't trust me. I was good though, even though I was trying to poop the whole time I didn't cry or yell (just grunted a little). I like that place cause it has a fireplace and I like to watch the fire. After dinner we went back to Grandma Jan's and had dessert...I had ice cream..Yummy! Then because of the ice cream I was all hyped up so I stayed up way past my bedtime playing with Uncle Scott, he is the coolest. But he better be forewarned, when I grow up I am gonna kick his butt at poker!!! Mommy said that if she knew what big card players the Bantas were she never would have married into the family! I must be a Banta cause I think it sounds like fun!

The really big news is that today I finally got to sit facing forward in my carseat!!!! No more cramped legs and I can see right out the front window! I love, love, love it! It will definately make our trip to Philadelphia tommorow more comfortable. Horray!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a great day today! We went over to Grandma Donna's house to celebrate Thanksgiving. When we got there I got to play with Grandpop Bill, Grandma Donna, and Great Grandma Berta. Everyone thought I was so cute and paid so much attention to me! And that was even before Grandma Jan and Grandpa Don got there! After they came over I played with them a bit and then ate lunch. I got to eat a real sweet potatoe for lunch, and it was much yummier than the kind that comes out of the jar, which I usually have.

At dinner everyone kept giving me new food to try. My favorite was the cranberry sauce, it was so yummy and sweet. After dinner Uncle Ian and Aunt Sarah came over and we all had dessert. I got a whole bowl of vanilla ice cream....YUMMY! I also had a few bites of pumpkin pie, which was pretty good...but it was no ice cream. That gave me a nice sugar rush so I got to stay up even later and show off for all the grandparents. Tommorow we go to Grandma Jan's house and I get to see Uncle Scott. What a fun holiday this is!!!

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

When I woke up this morning my Great Grandma Berta was here!!! I was so excited to see her cause it has been months since the last time. I love the way she talks to me in her funny accent!

We didn't have much time to play this morning cause my teacher came over. She brought me a new chair with a desk attached, but it is kinda broken so Grandpop Bill needs to fix it for me. We had fun playing but as usual I didn't cooperate the whole time. I did do a pretty good job with the puzzle though. It isn't my fault, she put her bag of toys down right next to me and I had to keep peaking to see what was in there.

This afternoon I went for a test at the hospital...I failed. It was a pass or fail test and to pass I had to drink this really yucky stuff. No way!!! So they didn't get to do the test but they said I looked so healthy not to worry about it. They were just trying to figure out why I don't like to drink, I could tell them why....Because! That's why! I did get to see a picture of the inside of my head on TV though...that was neat.

Grandma Donna was here when we got home so I even got to play with her a little today! I showed off my cruising to her and Great Grandma Berta. Tommorow is Thanksgiving and I get to spend the whole day with my family. Both Grandmas and Granpas ( and Great Grandma) are gonna be there and there will be turkey! I can't wait!!!

The Ravens Won!!! Finally! I am really happy about that cause it made Daddy real happy, and I like when he is happy.

Today was fun. Daddy and I hung out and played, and we watched a little football too. It was a nice lazy Sunday. For dinner we all went out to dinner at Don Pablos to celebrate the Ravens winning and Mommy being done with her test. I like that place, there are pretty colored lights hanging everywhere. I ate a little bit of tortilla chips and some of Mommy's corncake. I also ate a bunch of cheesecurls. The waitress gave me a kids menu and some crayons so Mommy tried to get me to color. Her one mistake was putting the crayon on my highchair tray...I figured that meant she wanted me to eat it! She didn't. I was pretty worn out when we got home so I went to sleep early.

Today was a wierd day. When I woke up this morning Mommy wasn't even home, and that never happens! Apparently she had to go take some kind of teacher test. It is okay if she wants to be a teacher, but she better understand that first she has to stay home with me and only be my Mommy! I might let her get a job someday, but only after I am in school full time. She was gone a long time and I only got to see her for a few minutes before I went over to Grandma Jan's house.

I had a good time at Grandma's house though and it was a typical fun Saturday. When I got home I was sleepy but not asleep so me and Mommy cuddled in bed for a while and that was really nice. I like to cuddle, but I just have too many other things to do and explore right now, so I almost never take the time to cuddle anymore.

Tommorow is Sunday, that means I have to take my nap at 1PM. I wonder what Daddy does on Sundays while I am napping?

I am finally feeling all better from my shots, but it sure took a while!

Today me and Mommy went to see Pat Winders. We were almost late cause Mommy had a hard time shoving me into my carseat with my new coat on. I guess it is just too cold to go out without my coat on anymore. When we got there I was not in the most cooporative mood. Pat wanted to work on walking, and I have decided I don't really like walking. At least not when I don't have something to lean on that makes me feel really secure. I did show her how great I am at cruising and she was very impressed. I even cruised between two parallel surfaces, which was kinda hard.

It took forever to get home cause the traffic was so bad. I didn't mind, I especially liked watching the teenage boys who kept trying to wash our windshield. When we got home Daddy was already here and he fed me and played with me, what fun!

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

I did not have a fun day today at all!!! First Mommy woke me up early and I was still so tired that I stood up in my crib without even opening my eyes. I didn't even open them until my diaper was changed. Then we went to the doctor. At first it was fun cause there was a cute baby in the waiting room who crawled over to see me, and I really like going out. But once we were in the exam room I remembered how much I hate that place. They did all kids of terrible things to me, like measuring my head. I fought the whole time, I just didn't want to have anything to do with any of that. Then the worst part, I got 4 shots! Ouch! Because of those stupid shots I have been cranky and tired all day. I have been sleeping most of the day.

The doctor said I was doing great. He said I am 15-20% on the regular height and weight charts, which is very good. He also said I can start facing forward in my carseat...yea! Oh yeah, he also said I was a very cute kid, but I don't think that was his medical opinion or anything.

My OT came over this afternoon and Mommy woke me up to see her. She said she almost prefers working with me when I don't feel good cause I am not as stubborn. I just didn't have the energy to fight her. I colored for her, threaded beads, and stacked stuff. She was very impressed!

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Today was really fun. Mommy and me had a laid back day, and then Grandma Donna came over. I had a great time with her, she mostly was here to help Mommy so she didn't get to play with me too much. I really enjoyed watching her though, she is like a whirling dervish, she never stops moving! She helped Mommy organize my room so now there is more space for me to play in there.

Grandma Donna is the best! We all really appreciate her coming over here and helping out!

Tommorow I have a doctors appointment..I guess that means shots. YUCK!

Monday, November 14, 2005

My teacher came over this morning, bright and early! Actually she was so early that I didn't get to finish my breakfast. That was partially my fault though cause I kept spitting at Mommy and being bad. Then she would get real serious and say "NO" (whatever that word means), and then she would stare me down. I guess she was trying to let me know how serious she was, but it kinda freaked me out so when she did it I would close my eyes real tight! That really made her laugh, and then we would start all over again.

I had a great time with my teacher. We read some books and she sang me some songs. Everytime she wanted me to do something with my hands I would fight her, so she started blowing on my hands. She said it was to wake them up, but I thought it felt kinda funny. She let me borrow this really neat book and she gave me this really cool toy. It is like a slinky with a head on it! I love it and I have been playing with it all day. I like to watch it bounce, bounce, bounce!

Sunday, November 13, 2005

Today was a fun day, even if the Ravens didn't win. I woke up bright and early so I could play, play, play! I had so much fun chasing my jiggly ball around that I kept getting excited and yelling. I even woke Mommy up, and I understand that is hard to do! I had a lot of fun playing with Daddy and just by coincidence my naptime was the same time as the football game. When I woke up the Ravens had lost, but I was still in a great mood...Daddy not so much. We watched the rest of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and that was good. Mommy says the original is better and when I am old enough she will get me the DVD. I can't wait!

Tommorow my teacher comes over. I will let you all know if anything cool happens!

Friday, November 11, 2005

Well today was an interesting day. My speech teacher was supposed to come over this afternoon, but she called and said she had to cancel cause her baby was being born! About time, her belly was getting really big! So instead I just played with Daddy most of the day.

Then Grandma Donna and Grandpop bill stopped by, but they only stayed a second cause they were off to cave in West Virginia. After that we went to mall to get my haircut. I really liked the haircut place cause there were so many kids to watch. And when it was time to get my haircut Mommy held me in her lap and the lady put a Baby Einstien tape on for me. I didn't mind the first few minutes of the haircut, but then I got kinda restless. I kept trying to grab the lady's comb and squirm out of Mommy's arms. Somehow she managed to do a pretty good job though. Mommy says I look like such a big boy.

After my haircut we went out to eat. It was fun and I had a good time pretending to feed Mommy my bread. She would open her mouth and I would put my bread up to it and she would pretend to eat it and go "yum, yum, yum!" that was so funny it made me giggle. Silly Mommy!

Today was lots of fun! Daddy stayed home and we hung out all day together, it doesn't get any better than that!

This afternoon Lindalee came over. I showed off my new cruising skills and she was very impressed. She even let me play with her keys as a reward and she says I am the only one she ever lets play with her keys! We also started to work on me learning to stand alone, without holding on to anything. She tricked me into doing it for a second and it was really scary, when I realized what was happening I gasped really loud and sat down. Mommy says I will get used to it.

Tommorow my speech teacher is coming over and then me, Mommy, and Daddy are gonna go to the mall so I can get my hair cut! Mommy says it will be fun, but I don't know. She will post pictures of how it turns out as soon as she can.

Wednesday, November 09, 2005

Today was pretty much just like yesterday. Nothing too exciting happened. I got to watch Higglytown Heros and JoJo's Circus, I love those shows. I had a great time rolling my pumpkin all over the place, but Mommy said we are gonna have to toss it soon, or it will rot. Daddy took the doorstop out of the foyer, so now I am allowed to play back there any time I want.

When Daddy got home today he had to fix the toilet, so we didn't get to play as much. That was okay cause I stayed up late with him and also cause he has tommorow off. We are gonna let Mommy sleep in and play all day long!

Tuesday, November 08, 2005

I'm am offically cruising! It has finally clicked and I can pretty much do it anywhere without too much encouragement. Of course, that is only when I feel like it! Today I cruised up and down the sofa 3 whole times, with very little enticement from Mommy. She was really impressed, but the truth is I have been cruising like that in my crib for weeks. That is where I like to practice all my new skills.

We had a fun day and took a late nap, which was good cause it meant I got to spend extra time playing with Daddy when he got home. He is so much fun to play with and he takes such good care of me!!! Nothing big planned for tommorow, this week is a light one for me!!!

Monday, November 07, 2005

What a great day!

Mommy woke me up way early so we could go to my early intervention playgroup. If I had known she was gonna do that I wouldn't have gotten up at 6 AM and played in my crib like I did! When we got there I was pretty nervous and didn't want to play. But after a couple of minutes I relaxed and I ended up having a really great time! There was still only one other kid there, the same one from last time, Donny. But that is okay cause he is so cool! He saw some balls we weren't supposed to have and he went over and got us them anyway! I can't wait till I can walk. We listened to music and everyone got an instrument to play with. I got the clapping hands and I shook them the whole time the music played. Then of course there was snack time, I ate 3 graham crackers. Mommy gave me some juice in a cup and I drank some...and spit it out. So she started complaining to the teachers that I did that. I never realized she was so worried about that...so I took a bunch more sips and didn't spit any of them out! Mommy was very happy.

Tonight Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill came over. I had a great time playing with them! Grandpop Bill even fed me a little and he made airplane noises while he did it, I thought that was pretty funny! It was a great night, I am so glad they came over!

Sunday, November 06, 2005

I had a really fun day today. I woke up early and played with Daddy untill it was time for Football. I think football is okay, but Daddy is just way to serious about it. He even planned my nap so it would be exactly when his game was on! Thats okay, we had lots of fun. I pulled all the papers off the coffee table, I played with Portia's snake toy, it was great. You may be thinking that I shouldn't play with Portia's toys, but it is okay cause she played with my little Halloween cat that makes the spooky noise all day! We are brother and sister, we know how to share! After dinner we watched the Matrix for a little while, now that is one cool movie! Then Mommy read me a book untill I was ready to fall asleep. It turned out to be a pretty nice Sunday!

Friday, November 04, 2005

Today was just a hang out day, but it was pretty fun. I got to crawl around and play with all my toys which is my favorite thing in the whole world to do! Portia decided that it would be okay to play with me a little today too and I really enjoyed that, she kisses too much though. I had Speghetti-O's with meatballs for lunch. I wasn't too thrilled with the O's but I really liked the meatballs, they kept popping out of my mouth, it was funny.

Daddy came home early cause it is Friday. That means more time for us to play! We played the rest of the night, it was really fun!

Thursday, November 03, 2005

Boy did I have a big day!

Mommy said she was gonna try and take me to playgroup today, but when her alarm went off she just turned it off and tried to go back to sleep! She was being a lazy mommy and I couldn't let her get away with that! So I started yelling and crying cause I really wanted to go to playgroup. She got the message and we went to my Down Syndrome playgroup! It was fun. There were only two other kids there and they were both girls. But one of the girls was almost the same age as me and she was really pretty! She was strong too, she could even cruise, and she was real good at it!

So I can't let a girl show me up like that! When Lindalee came over today I cruised for her!!! I did a pretty good job too. She was really impressed! So next month maybe I can go back to playgroup and show that little girl what this boy is made of!

The rest of my day was fun too. When Daddy came home we played and watched the Simpsons. Then it was time for bed so I gave Mommy a kiss goodnight and I was out!

Wednesday, November 02, 2005

Today was a really fun day! Mommy and me slept in and then my OT came over. I must be getting used to all these therapists cause I really showed off for her today too! We put stuff in the coffee can, I pointed at stuff, took stuff off the puzzle and tried to put it back, I stacked some blocks, and I threaded some wood beads (with a little help). The only thing I wouldn't do was color, I just don't get that yet! Mommy said she was real proud of me for working so hard!

Then after my nap Grandma Donna came over! Yea! She came over to help Mommy with some stuff, but she played with me a bunch too. I love Grandma Donna! It always makes my day when she comes over.

Tuesday, November 01, 2005

My speech teacher came over today. Usually I don't make a peep while she is here, but today I was in a good mood so I talked talked talked! She was very suprised cause she has never really heard me talk before...I am just shy I guess. Of course when she wanted me to say BaBa, I said DaDa, and vice versa. I am not only shy but I am stubborn too! At least that is what everyone tells me.

After she left we played a bunch. I chased my coffee can back and forth across the living room. Mommy and me played with all the cool stuff from my Halloween treat bag. There was a cool cat that made spooky noises, a straw that when Mommy blew though it whistled, and a little tiny pumpkin that I really liked playing with. There was a lollipop in there too, but I was not interested when Mommy tried to put it in my mouth. It sure didn't look like food!

I played a little too hard today and I had to go to sleep early. That meant I didn't get to play with Daddy very much, and that really sucked!!!

Happy Halloween Everybody!

Today was quite a day. Mommy and me got up real early and went to a new playgroup that was through early intervention. My teacher Miss Dorothy was there and that was pretty cool. There were supposed to be lots of kids there but it was only me and one other little boy. He could walk, clap, dance, and he kept saying "yes", which is apparently much better than "no". I really liked watching him play, but didn't feel like participating much, at least not until it was snack time. I was a little overwhelmed, but I can never turn down a free graham cracker! It was fun and maybe next time I will participate more. When it was time to go Miss Dorothy gave me a halloween treat bag, it was really cool!

Tonight it was Halloween night so we went trick or treating over to Grandma Jan's house. She took me around an showed me to all of her neighbors, they all thought I was really cute of course. Then Grandpa Don walked me around so I could see all the neighborhood decorations, that was fun too. When we went back in the house I showed Mommy a new trick. See there is this moon thing hanging in Grandma's living room. Last time I was there she tried to teach me to wave to the moon. This time I figured it out by myself. Grandma would point to it, say "Wave to the Moon" and I would wave! I did it a bunch of times tonight cause I wanted to prove to Mommy that it wasn't just a fluke!

Then I got bubbles and some new cool Halloween books from Grandma. It was a really fun night, but now I am sooooo tired!

Happy Birthday Grandma Donna!!!

I had such a fun and exciting day today. First I woke up really early at Grandma Jan's and Grandpa Don took care of me. Then me, Grandma, Grandpa and Grandpa Don's Uncle and his wife all went for a long car ride. We went to look at leaves and we walked around a really cool little town and went in a bunch of stores. We went out to lunch and I ate chicken fingers and french fries like a big boy. Note to Mommy, time to start ordering for me off the kids menu! I also had chocolate ice cream for dessert!

Then Mommy, Daddy, and Portia picked me and we all went to Grandma Donna's house! As you can see it is Grandma Donna's birthday and we went to celebrate. We played, had dinner, and I showed off my halloween costume for Grandma and Grandpa. Portia showed them her's too but she wasn't too thrilled with having to wear it. Grandma got some cool furry boots and comfy pajamas for her birthday. Oh, and she gave me ice cream for dessert too! Gotta love that Grandma lovin!

Friday, October 28, 2005

This morning I just hung out with Mommy and Daddy. It was fun. They had CNN on the TV downstairs and there were these cool words just flying by on the bottom of the screen. I climbed up and tried to catch them, but no luck. Mommy says I am so silly, but she loves the ticker on CNN too!

This afternoon I went over to Grandma Jan's house. She got me this cool farm toy/puzzle for Halloween, I really liked playing with it. I am spending the night at her house and then we are gonna go look at leaves. Fun, fun, fun.

Thursday, October 27, 2005

My PT Lindalee came over today, and I was so not in the mood to work! I was kinda cranky all day actually. She took the paint cans that were weighing down my rubbermaid container and put them in my wagon. That made it harder to push my wagon so it doesn't get away from me as easily. Of course al I wanted to do was play with the paint cans, they were cool!

I had a good day even though I was cranky and tired. I just didn't feel like taking a nap today, so that is probably why. Tommorow is a Happy Friday, so Daddy is gonna stay home. I love it when we can hang out together in the morning. Then I am gonna go spend the night at Grandma Jans. I can't wait!

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

I forgot to write yesterday that I got mail! I got a Halloween card from Grandma Jan, but mine didn't have a treat in it like Portias, or that funny green paper that Mommy likes so much, which was in her card. No matter cause I love paper so I had a great time playing with the card. Thanks, Grandma!

Today me and Mommy played a bunch. She had hidden a couple of magazines in my wagon and I found them today. I got them out and had a great time looking at them and playing with the paper. We played Patty-Cake, but I did not participate like Mommy wanted me to. It was still fun though, I love it when she pokes my belly!

Tommorow Lindalee comes over, maybe I will be in the mood to show her my cruising, or maybe not!

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

My speech teacher came over today. I had the hiccups but was in a pretty good mood. I did everything she asked me to, except talk of course. I put a block in a container a bunch of times with almost no help or encouragement. My teacher thinks that means I know what "in" means. I am not sure yet.

I had a really yummy lunch today, Mommy made me a jelly sandwich. I am not allowed to have peanut butter for a couple more months, but just jelly is fine with me! That is some really yummy sticky stuff! I ate it all and didn't even share with Portia, it was that good!

When Daddy got home we played and I kept trying to climb the gate to see what Mommy was doing. I am not that good at pulling up on the gate so I kept falling and bumping my head, that made me pretty mad. After dinner we watched "I Love the 80's: 3D", I didn't get any of the jokes, Mommy says that is because the 80's were a long long time ago.

Monday, October 24, 2005

Today was fun. I didn't have any therapies or appointments. Mommy and me just played all day. We worked on me walking with my wagon. That went okay, I really liked it, I am just not that great at it yet. Mommy kept messing with me and trying to get me to cruise along the coffee table. She is a little anxious cause I haven't cruised since we saw Pat Winders. I gave her a few steps and that seemed to make her happy. I personally prefer to kneel at the table so I can chew on it. After all the things my family has done to that table in the past, Mommy says I am the first to put teeth-marks in it!

When Daddy came home we played a bunch! He likes to play with the light up thing Grandma got me, which is fine with me cause I love it! Then at dinner I ate crackers while Mommy and Daddy had dinner. When they were done Daddy tried to pull my tray away so we could go play. I pulled it right back cause I wasn't done with my yummy crackers! Who says I can't communicate my wants and needs???!
No milk mustaches for Quinn, he prefers a milk beard...chocolate milk that is!

Sunday, October 23, 2005

Today was Sunday, and that means Football! I watched football pretty much all day with Daddy. It was okay, but I will be happy when this season is over so Daddy will play with me more!

I was kinda cranky today so I took a long nap and went to sleep early. Nothing really exciting happened today, just another lazy Sunday.

Saturday, October 22, 2005

This morning we went to our Down Syndrome groups welcome brunch. It was lots of fun! Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill came with us which made it even more funer! There were tons of kids there and even though I didn't really play with them I did enjoy watching them. Everyone said how cute I was and how much hair I have. Mommy says that means I am in desperate need of a haircut, uh oh!

After we got back from brunch we went over to Grandma Jan's house. I had fun there getting into everything etc. Unfortunately it was really yucky out so me and Grandpa Don didn't get to go for our regular walk. It was a really fun day but boy am I worn out, Goodnight!

Friday, October 21, 2005

Guess what I did today! I cruised!!!! We went to see Pat Winders and she found the perfect surface for me to walk along and I did it! I did a really good job too and Mommy and Pat were both very impressed. The only problem is there is nothing in our house that is the right height for me to cruise along! We will have to work on that. Pat was also very happy with my walking (with hand-holding of course) and my stair climbing. It was a fun session!

It was a really yucky day out and when me and Mommy went outside we got wet! I don't think I love this rain stuff. It was cold out too, yuck!

Tommorow we are going to the Down Syndrome groups Welcome Brunch. I went last year too, but I was too little to enjoy it! This time I am gonna show off and be extra cute so all the new parents will know that it is really okay to have a special kid like me.

Thursday, October 20, 2005

I am officially 18 months old today! Can you believe it??

My PT came over today and I showed off for her lots. She was very impressed with my crawling on my hands and knees. She also predicted I would be cruising the sofa by Christmas and walking by the time I am two! Of course then she said, "But this is Quinn, so he is just going to do it when he is ready!" She did say that my crawling form was perfect though!

Grandma Donna came over for dinner and luckily Grandpop Bill was able to come with her. She brought me a little ball, and surfer Snoopy, and the coolest light stick thingy ever! I love it! It is for halloween and it lights up all different colors and they spin around, it is the best!

After they left I had dinner, it was green beans and turkey and I liked that even better than the chicken and pasta! I fed most of it to myself. Then I was so worn out from my big day I went to sleep early.

Tommorow I am going to see Pat Winders...Yay!

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Today was a pretty fun day. When I woke up my shirt was halfway off and my slipper was hanging off me too. Mommy says it looked like I had a rough night, but I didn't really!

My OT came over today and she wanted to watch me eat. I wanted to watch her watch me eat, so we didn't get very much accomplished. It is just really distracting to me when people are around when I am trying to eat. She also wanted me to spoon-feed myself, and I wanted to have nothing to do with that!

I spent the rest of the afternoon chasing my coffee can and blow-up globe around the living room. I also crawled on my hands and knees quite a bit today. For dinner I got a Gerber Graduate meal and it was really good. It was a microwave dinner with chunks of carrots, chunks of chicken and wagonwheel pasta. I fed most of it to myself with my hands and Mommy and Daddy were very proud! Tommorow Lindalee is coming over, plus we are gonna get up early and watch the View cause a couple of grown ups with Down Syndrome are gonna be on. Mommy says they should be my role models.

The best thing about tommorow is that Grandma Donna is coming over for dinner!!! I can't wait to see her.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

I am so sorry that I missed posting for two whole days! You see, I still need Mommy's help to write my blog and sometimes she gets distracted.

On Monday my teacher came over, it was really fun seeing her. She brought her cool toy that is plastic oreos and I have to put them in the cookie jar. I got a couple in all by myself and she was really impressed. I also tried to eat them, that is when I realized the were plastic. She said that she is going to be having a playgroup every other Monday that I am invited to! There will be a couple of other kids there for me to play with, it sounds like lots of fun and it is a lot closer than the other playgroups we go to sometimes. The first one is on Halloween, I might even wear my costume!

Today my speech teacher came over. I had to get up so early and I didn't wanna, I was still too tired. Mommy said I had to sit in my highchair cause my ST is getting so big that she can't get on the floor so easy anymore. Mommy says she has a baby in her belly, but I grabbed it and didn't feel anything! Besides that we took a long nap and played a bunch today, it was fun.

Saturday, October 15, 2005

Daddy and Portia both got haircuts today! They look different but I still recognized them. I went over to Grandma Jan's today. It was fun as usual. She always puts a chair in front of the VCR so I can't play with it, but I am so strong that I can move it now! She can't keep me from the VCR that easily. I went for a long walk with Grandpa Don this evening and I really liked looking at the moon. It was so big and bright and pretty! I also watched them tow a car, now that was neat! Grandpa got me a new ball to play with so I chased that all around the house, it was a really fun day.

Friday, October 14, 2005

Daddy and me hung out all morning, that was sure fun!

Tonight we were gonna go for a walk, but Mommy thought it was gonna rain. So instead we went to the mall! I loved it! We walked all around and everytime we went in a store I tried to grab everything. Especially when we were in the Disney store and at the magazine rack in the book store. Mommy was just too fast, so I didn't get to grab anything...oh well. My favorite part was watching the fountain. I just love water and this fountain had lights and the water spurted up in the air! I could have watched it all day. There was also a really cool Merry-go-Round, but Mommy says I am not quite old enough for that yet.

It was a really fun night, I love going on dates with Mommy and Daddy. Tommorow I am going to Grandma Jan's house. Yay!

Thursday, October 13, 2005

I took my crib apart this morning! When Mommy came in I had pulled the chew bar off my crib! It is this long plastic thing that protects my crib bar from getting toothmarks on it. I somehow managed to pry it off, and it wasn't easy cause one of my crib toys was tied around it! Mommy says I am just like Daddy cause I just love to take things apart. That is good cause I wanna be just like Daddy, he is the greatest!

My PT Lindalee came over today. I did show off for her a little so Mommy was proud of me. I did smack her once and kept pushing her away. She told Mommy that was very age appropriate and that her little boy does that all the time too. Tommorow is Daddy's Happy Friday, so I get to hang out with him all day! Fun, fun, fun!

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

Mommy and me had a really exciting day. First we went to the Post Office cause we had to mail a very important letter to Uncle Sam...I didn't know I had an uncle named Sam...I thought just a cousin. Oh well, Mommy said something about the IRS and a big check, but I am too little to know what that means.

After we went home and I took a nap Grandma Donna came over. Mommy, me, and Grandma all went over to our friend Shawna's house. She has a little boy names Lucas and we went over for dinner, to play, and to collect some more of Lucas' clothes. He is where most of my clothes come from, he has the best hand-me-downs! He is so lucky, he has his very own fish tank in his room. I really liked watching the fish, I liked watching Lucas too...that kid is so cool he never slows down!! There were 2 cats and a dog there, they were all real friendly with me. I guess they didn't know I pull hair. I also got to play with some of Lucas' cool toys. It was a really fun night!

I had a fun day today. I woke up extra early so I could play with Daddy as much as possible. We had a great time together this morning...I really love the big guy!

After that we went to the mall. That was fun too, I really like watching all the people and touching the clothes and stuff. Mommy bought a new diaper bag, I helped her pick it out. After the mall we went to the fabric store cause Mommy needed new scissors. Me and Daddy hung out while Mommy did girly things. You would think that we would go home after that but no, we went to Trader Joes. They had lots of cool flowers there and I really liked looking at them. We got a chicken for dinner and I ate some! Mommy tore it into really little pieces for me and I managed with just my two teeth.

When it was time for bed Daddy put me in my new PJ's they are much too big for me, but really comfy. They sure made it hard to crawl around though!

Today I went over to Grandma Jan's house. It was lots of fun as usual. She got me a cool new book that read the story to me as I turned the pages, I really liked it but she said I had to leave it there...it was a Grandma's house toy! I also got this cool new basketball hoop toy that I really liked. I had a good time standing at their coffee table and trying to get their stuff. They gave me some chunks of meat and carrots for lunch and even thought I didn't want to, I fed myself. I am getting much better at that.

Tommorow is Columbus Day, and even though you can't "discover" a place where people already live, Daddy gets the day off! Horray for Columbus! We will probably go to the mall since Mommy didn't get to today. I like the mall!

Saturday, October 08, 2005

It was still real rainy today, but that is okay cause Daddy was home and then we got a visit from Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill. That made it into a really fun day! Grandma brought me a coffee can so I could practice putting stuff "in". I would much rather take stuff out, but since Grandma brought me that cool can I did put a couple of blocks into it. Everyone seemed real impressed and even clapped for me. Grandpop is so funny, he kept trying to make my hands clap themselves...it was funny but a little scarey...not like when Mommy does it. They also brought me a really cool blow up ball of the world, I liked that a lot. I ate some brocoli at dinner, it was okay. I only tried it cause Grandma told me it was a little tree and that seemed cool. Plus, I was out of cheese curls.

Tommorow I am going to Grandma Jan's. I love these Grandma filled weekends!!!

Boy did it rain today! All day long it poured, I am so glad I don't have to go outside to go to the potty like Portia does! Of course Mommy and me didn't go anywhere cause it was so yucky out. We hung out and played and watched TV. All good rainy day things. For some reason I didn't get a very good nap so I feel asleep right after Daddy got home. I did wake up later and he fed me and played with me a little. Tommorow is Saturday so I get to spend all day with him...otherwise I would be really disapointed. It is supposed to rain all day tommorow too, oh well...Daddy says it is good cause we were having a drought. He watches too much Discovery channel!

Thursday, October 06, 2005

My PT Lindalee came over today. Unfortunately I did not feel like showing off for her so she didn't get to see how great I was doing. She said she believed Mommy though. Personally I am getting a little tired of having people come to our house and Mommy demanding I show off. Sometimes I just don't wanna! Of course after she left I crawled all around, pulled to stand, and got into sitting.

I had a pretty fun day. Mommy is so funny and she makes me smile and laugh. I love it when she kisses my neck and today she was in a real kissy mood. I let her look at my teeth. She says there are two of them, but there is a space between them. Hey, beggars can't be chosers...she wanted me to get teeth and I am getting them! So what if they are coming in in a wierd way.

Nothing planned for tommorow. On Saturday I get to see Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill! Yay!

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

It was a fun day today. We got up early to wait for Peapod to come and I got to watch some of my shows cause Mommy was tired. After that we took a nap and then the OT came. She wanted me to scribble with a crayon, I wanted to eat the crayon...we finally agreed to disagree. She did have this cool tubie thing that I really liked playing with. Mostly she and Mommy just talked about me goals though.

I ate some new stuff today cause Mommy really wants me to start getting more liquids. First I got chocolate milk in my cup instead of just regular milk, yummy! Then I got jello for a snack, double yum! Plus I got some Italian ice for desert, but I didn't like that so much. Mommy gave me some french fries with dinner and I fed them to Portia. That isn't anything new, but it was different cause this time I did it on purpose! I laughed so hard when Portia came up and ate out of my hand, it was really funny.

I also went halfway across the living room today on my hands and knees! I only crawl that way when I am not in a hurry though, the other way is faster!

Tuesday, October 04, 2005

This morning my speech teacher came over. I didn't talk until she left, but I did take a few steps on my hands and knees. Mommy said it looked just like real crawling!

This afternoon I went over to Grandma Jan's house. It was lots of fun! I spit up all over her carpet, but she still loves me. We went for a walk and then to the playground. I swung in the swing but had more fun watching the other kids. Maybe Mommy will take me there sometime soon. For dinner I had a fake chicken nugget, tofu isn't that bad...no matter what Mommy says. Grandma finally figured out how to block me from the VCR, which kinda sucked. But I enjoyed pulling up on the chair she put in front of it. I am now an expert at pulling up to her coffee table...but it is almost not worth it cause she moved all the fun stuff!

Tommorow I have OT, nothing else is going on.

Monday, October 03, 2005

My teacher came over this morning. It was fun! We played with lots of stuff and she worked on getting me to put stuff in, not just take it out. What is the point of that??? I only want to do really fun stuff!

Mommy wanted me to start working on pulling up to the sofa. So she put one of her shoes up there so I would want to get it. That was all it took, I pulled up to that sofa like it was nothing! And that was one of my biggest PT goals for this month. I guess we can check that one off the list. Then when I was getting a bath I pulled to stand against the side of the bathtub! I usually sit in a special bath seat, but today I refused to bend my legs so Mommy let me sit alone in the tub. What fun! It was a little slippery, but nothing I can't handle.

Tommorow my speech teacher comes over and then I get to spend the rest of the day with Grandma Jan!

Sunday, October 02, 2005

Guess what??!! I have another tooth coming in! It is right next to my other one and Grandma Jan found it tonight when we stopped by her house. I might have more....but I will be darned if I let Mommy go exploring in my mouth!

We are home safe and sound in Maryland again. It was a really fun trip to New York though, as you can see from my pictures below. I still prefer home and it will be so nice to sleep in my big comfy crib again. I had my first real NY bagel this morning...yummy! I also got to meet Aunt Stacey's sister today, she was really nice. I showed off and was extra cute for her and her husband. Mommy says that is my job when I am around women who are of breeding age and ability....be extra cute. That isn't a very hard job for me though, it comes naturally.

Tommorow it is back to work. My teacher is coming over in the morning. Then Tuesday is a Jewish holiday so I get to spend all day with Grandma Jan! That is because even though she isn't Jewish the schools give her the day off. Isn't that nice of them? Oh yeah...she bought me a whole big bag of warm comfy winter PJ's...thanks Grandma Jan!

Here is one of Quinn standing at the coffee table at Grandma Jan's house. Yes, he got there himself! Posted by Picasa

Saturday, October 01, 2005

Today was so much fun, it was a totally New York day! We woke up late and went to lunch at a pizza place up the street from Uncle Scott's house. The slices were almost as big as I was and I am not exaggerating! Mommy gave me some of her crust and it was really yummy. I chewed on it for a while and even took it on the subway with me. That is right, I rode the NYC subway all over this town today. It was really neat, and it really helped me poop....well the Miralax that Mommy has been giving me helped a little too. We went to Times Square and looked at all the huge light up billboards. Plus we went in the worlds biggest Toys R' Us and it had a full sized ferris wheel in it! Mommy says when I get a little older I can ride on it. After that we got on the subway again and went to the ferry station. We rode the ferry (which is just a really big boat) all the way to Staten Island and back. We say the Statue of Liberty and the city from the water, it was neat and I really liked feeling the wind blow in my face. After we got back we went to Central Park and walked around. We saw tons of dogs at the park and they make me miss Portia. We saw ducks and boats and lots of people too. Then we went to dinner at a trendy New York restaraunt and once again I was the only kid there. But the brought me a big plate of fries and they were really yummy. Not Yucky at all, Mommy told them...we want regular fries, not the Yuka fries you have listed on the menu!

Tommorow we go home, this was a pretty fun visit but I do miss Maryland.

Friday, September 30, 2005

I love New York! I am here in New York City visiting my Uncle Scott and I am having the best time. He is letting me use his computer so I can update my blog. Wasn't that nice of him? Today we drove up here in the Kia, I haven't been in that car yet....the Minivan is much nicer. We stopped at Cracker Barrel and I ate biscuits for lunch. Then we got into the city and found Uncle Scott. We went in an elevator up to his apartment and then I crawled all around on his slippery hardwood floors. Then we went to see where he works at Columbia University. There are a lot of stairs there so Daddy and Uncle Scott picked my stroller up and carried me. That was fun and scary at the same time. Then we went to a French restraunt for dinner, they were very nice to me even though I was the only little kid there.

Tommorow we might go on a boat ride and ride the subway...maybe even go to the zoo! Also tommorow I get to see Aunt Stacey, she had to work all night tonight.

Thursday, September 29, 2005

I had a fun day today! We woke up early cause the speech teacher came over. I like it when she comes over cause she brings bubbles! Did you know that I love bubbles! Mommy says I am just so smart cause after the teacher blew the bubbles at me I would turn my head so I could watch them pop on the rug behind me. I guess if I wasn't so smart I wouldn't know what happens to bubbles after they leave my line of vision!

Then we got to go visit with Pat Winders and I showed off all my new tricks. She was very impressed! She said I am just doing so great and I am so strong. I love that crinkly, shiny, red paper she gives me so I will do anything to get it! I even creeped on my hands and knees a little...almost traditional crawling!

My favorite part of the day was that it was really windy! I love the feeling of wind blowing in my face, everytime we went outside I got so excited! Mommy says I am a natural born sailor!

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

I don't know if you all heard about my new trick. It is really funny...everytime Mommy puts my bib on I rip it off and laugh! Mommy doesn't think it is so funny, and Daddy finds it even less amusing. I think Velcro rocks! Well today Mommy put an end to my fun, she is a tricky tricky lady! She got me a new type of bib...no velcro...and I can't get it off myself! Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. These new bibs are cool though, they have a little scoop that catches my food when I drop it.

So I also taught myself another trick and this is the good kind. You know how I like to pull to standing all the time, well it was starting to hurt when I fell down. So today I figured out how to sit down for standing. I just stick out my little butt and bend my knees a little and Tada! I am sitting! Much easier than falling, and I figured that one out all by myself...no help from Mommy! Pat Winders is going to be really impressed when we see her tommorow!

This is a picture of Mommy's doctor, Dr.Zern...did you know she was a top doc?? Posted by Picasa

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

Daddy still wasn't feeling well today so he stayed home from work. That was really nice cause we got to spend some quality Daddy/Quinn time together. He even fed me lunch which was okay, but the problem is that Daddy thinks my cottage cheese is yucky...so he won't feed it to me! I always have to have something else for lunch when Daddy feeds me.

We watched a lot of Star Trek and played with my toys. I am not a big fan of Star Trek, I would much rather watch Gilmore Girls. Until I learn to use that remote I don't have much of a say though. Nothing much else to report for now!

Monday, September 26, 2005

Mommy woke me up really early today because we thought the teacher was gonna come over. It turned out she had to cancel so she could take her son to the doctor...bummer. So we ate breakfast and went back to sleep. This afternoon we went to see Dr. Zern. Everyone in the office thought I was so cute and so good...and it isn't like I was the only baby there! There are always tons of babies in Dr. Zerns office. But everyone there remembers Mommy and me, I guess it is cause we are so special. Mommy says it is cause we are troublemakers! So that was fun, I love getting attention from everyone. Also I got a nice nap in the car on the way home!

When Daddy got home he still wasn't feeling great, I don't know why he even went to work! That is what sick days are for, but Daddy says he doesn't want to waste a sick day on when he isn't feeling well. I don't get it...maybe when I am older.

Sunday, September 25, 2005

I felt great today, but Daddy was really sick! He couldn't talk and he didn't even want to play with me! All he felt like doing was laying around and watching football. I hope he feels better tommorow!!

Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill stopped by and that was cool. They were dressed alike, which I thought was pretty dorky. I hope Mommy and Daddy don't start dressing alike after they have been married that long! I showed them that I could pull to standing cause I did it right in front of them. They were very impressed. That was my day pretty much, I watched the Simpsons with Daddy and then went to sleep.

Tommorow my teacher comes over in the morning. Then me and Mommy are gonna go visit Dr. Zern! I love her, she delivered me so she was the first person I ever saw, plus she saved Mommy's life...horray for Dr. Zern!!!

Saturday, September 24, 2005

Today I felt much better, but Mommy and Daddy were both sick! We didn't go out or really do much because they weren't feeling up to it. I played with my toys and pulled to stand on almost everything I could wrap my hands around! I am getting really really good at that. I also got myself into sitting more times than I could count today. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, cause I can't count....but it was a bunch of times! I cannot wait to go see Pat Winders next week so I can show her all my new tricks.

I used my new tooth to eat cheese curls and that made it a little easier. It is still not all the way out and I won't let anyone look at it. In case you are wondering why I didn't get to go to Grandma Jan's house today like I usually do, it is because she is in Ohio visiting Great Grandma Hattie. I wanted to go spend the night with Grandma Donna instead, but she is in Virginia visiting a cave! Oh well!!! Usually they fight over me, but I am totally Grandmaless this weekend!

Friday, September 23, 2005

Guess what I did today?? I grew a tooth!!!! Can you believe it? There is this sharp white thing poking out of the middle of my top gums. Mommy got very excited when she saw it this morning, she started hugging me and crying and then clapping. She said soon I will get to eat steak for dinner just like Daddy!

My teacher came over this morning, but not to play with me. She wanted to talk to Mommy about my services and stuff. So I just crawled around and played. They were ignoring me so I decided to show off and I got myself into a sitting position all by myself! I have been trying to do that for a while, but this is the first time it actually worked. Miss Dorothy was very impressed, she cheered for me!

After she left Grandma Donna and Grandpop Bill stopped by for a quick visit. It was great to see them, but it was my naptime so I was a little sleepy. I let them look at my tooth though, they were also very excited about it.

After my nap I went to see Dr. Crawford so he could check my croup. We went to his fancy Columbia office this time. It was just like the Catonsville office, but it had fish!!! I really liked watching those cool fishies swimming around. He said I looked pretty good for a croupy kid. He looked at my new tooth and said it looked great! I weighed 21 lbs 4 oz. I get to go back and see him in another month for my 18 month checkup.

Thursday, September 22, 2005

Those steroids the doctors gave me must have really made me stronger! I have been pulling to stand all over the place today! See the picture Daddy caught of me below. I had an okay day. I slept a lot and played a little. Mommy cancelled my PT and we just hung out as a family. They put a humidifier in my room so I hung out there a lot. I only coughed a little today and didn't have any gasping so that is good. I have an appointment to see Dr. Crawford tommorow afternoon, so he can check me out good. Mommy thinks I am feeling good enough for my teacher to come over tommorow, so that should be fun. I almost clapped my hands tonight, but I changed my mind. I just don't think I am ready for that yet!

Mommy had to cancel my appointment with Pat Winders for tommorow cause they don't let sick kids into Kennedy Krieger (kinda wierd for a hospital). Luckily we get to go see her next week instead, and at my favorite place! Her office that we almost never go to has tons of windows and is really cool! I can't wait!

Quinn really standing in his crib! Posted by Picasa
We just got home from the Emergency Room, it has been quite a night! I am okay, apparently I didn't just have a normal cold, I had Croup!!! This afternoon I started to make some gaspy sounds along with more coughing. Mommy was worried about me, she canceled my OT so I could have the day off. When Daddy got home it got much worse so Mommy called Grandma Jan (she is the closest expert mommy). Grandma came over and told Mommy she should call the doctor. Mommy held the phone up to me while I was gasping and the doctor said "Mom, get that baby to the hospital right away!" So we went to the hospital and the nurse was like "Sounds croupy to me". The doctor came in and said "Yup". The gave me a breathing treatment and Mommy held a tube in front of my face and smokey stuff came out of it. That wasn't too bad, but then they looked in my ears and said "Clean em' out"....boy did that suck! They squirted tons of water in my ears to get all the wax out and I screamed the whole time.

The doctor came to check on me and said I needed another treatment and I had to wear a mask this time. I really didn't like that mask! I screamed and cryed the whole time, but when it was over I felt much better. I layed on my belly on the hospital bed and went to sleep. They made us wait 2 whole more hours before the would let us go home, but I slept the whole time. It was not a fun night and I am so glad it is over! The good news is that since we didn't get home till after midnight, Daddy gets to call in sick and stay home with me tommorow!

The doctor said lots of kids get Croup and it is not a big deal. He said I should get better in a few days and that if I start gasping again I have to go back to the hospital. Lets hope that doesn't happen again!!!!

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

This morning when I woke up all that stuff that was in my nose last night was running down my face! It was gross and cool at the same time! I had to get up early even though I didn't feel good because the speech teacher was coming over. Mommy said I was a real trooper cause I was good even though I felt bad. The ST tested me by holding up a bowl and a spoon and telling me to get the bowl. I did, then she tested me over and over...get the spoon, get the bowl....I got it right every time. Mommy was really suprised cause she never taught me those things and I don't even come in contact with bowls that often! I don't know why she is suprised, I am one smart little guy!

Besides that the rest of the day really sucked. I felt really sick, I coughed and sneezed a lot. Everytime that I was in my excersaucer and sneezed I would hit my head on one of the toys, not funny! Plus when I tried to talk my voice came out sounding really wierd. I hope I feel better tommorow, I am so over this being sick thing!!!!

Monday, September 19, 2005

When I woke up this morning my nose was all stuffy and I was pretty cranky. No fever this time though. If this is teething those little suckers better make an appearance soon! This is really trying my patience (Mommy's too). So I didn't really feel like eating today, or playing, or anything else. The only thing that made me happy was playing with Portia and watching TV. Mommy gave me some medicine and I took an extra long nap, that helped a bit. Grandma Donna came over for a little while and that was a great distraction. She brought me a present! It is the same school bus toy that my teacher had brought over before. It plays the wheels on the bus song and I love it! I played with it the rest of the night until it was time to go to sleep. I really hope I feel better tommorow, today was a rough day!

Sunday, September 18, 2005

I had a fun day today. I got to hang out with Daddy this morning, which I always love doing! We watched the football game but the Ravens lost, it made me want to cry too Daddy! After the game we went out to dinner with Grandma Jan to celebrate Mommy's birthday a little belatedly. We went to Red Lobster and it was lots of fun. Grandpa Don walked me all around and even showed me the lobster tank. I guess he didn't think I was gonna stick my hand in, he was wrong! I just wanted to wave Hi to the lobsters! At dinner Grandma ordered me my own plate of french fries, I ate almost all of them myself! Then for dessert she ordered me some ice cream. It was yummy, I didn't even have to share it with anyone and I was the only person at the table who got dessert!

Oh yeah, Grandma tried to feed my some of her fish.....yucky!
